Current Exhibition:
Happy Birthday Amsterdam, H’ART Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands, 4 December 2024 - 16 March 2025
Amsterdam is celebrating its 750th birthday. H’ART Museum presents the exhibition Happy Birthday Amsterdam, in which 75 artists, including a sardine can, of past and present pay tribute to this vibrant capital. Rather than a historical overview, this exhibition is a festive ode to Amsterdam and the creatives who lived, worked and still reside there…
Miss Kerr, Miss Bhave are alter egos of Marja Samsom, who lives and works in New York City. With performances in venues such as De Appel centre for contemporary art and Participant Inc., she has been at the cutting edge of feminist performance art since the 1970s.
“Early on, when a group of executives from the furniture company Knoll came in to see what the gallery was all about, Mr. Kaufmann invited Marja Samsom, a Dutch performance artist otherwise known as Miss Behave, to make an appearance. She wafted about in a French maid’s uniform, dusting the objects and every now and then exclaiming, “Ooh la la!” Perhaps not surprisingly, Knoll never reached out to Mr. Kaufmann or any of his artists about putting the furniture into production.” - Remembering Rick Kauffmann
